A Peanut Butter Weekend!

Hope you all had a great weekend. Ours here was wonderful the weather was`nt as cold which was nice for a change. Yesterday Rob, the girls and I made some pine cone bird feeders.

The girls had a blast whipping these up. Funny though I looked out in the yard today and only one remains. I think the squirrels ran off with the rest of them...LOL Atleast they`ll be eating good!

After dinner I decided to whip up my first ever batch of peanut butter fudge.
Boy was this delicious and easy to make! Thank you to Xoch for the recipe. Stop by her blog here to grab the recipe. She also has the bird feeder directions too. Thanks Xoch my girls enjoyed the weekend with your tips!

Phew it sure has been a long weekend....

It sure has gotten quite chilly here this weekend. Fall definately has arrived. I spent the day quite chilly here in the house as we don`t want to put the heat on yet with the price of oil...yikes! So I plan on waiting to do it, although we did drag the kerosene heater into the living room today.....LOL

Heres a little something to keep you all feeling toasty :)

With all the ebay layoffs going on right now alot of folks are afraid soon they will be doing away we the ebay groups. Today I spent the day searching out other engines so if that should happen all the friends I have gained in KSGP I will be able to keep and converse with. They are just like family to me, some I`ve known now for years and would be lost without them! So we now have our back up safety net :)

The economy has become quite a scary thing and I sure hope things start looking better for us all soon.

I did manage to get another dollie made and listed on ebay. Her name is Celie.
Here`s a peek at her:

if you like her you can check her out

Monkey bread...

Heres a simple recipe thats made lickety split and the kids love it. Now remember I didn`t say it was nutritional ;)

INGREDIENTS
3 (12 ounce) packages refrigerated biscuit dough (pillsbury will do, I use the four pack)
1 cup white sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
1/2 cup raisins (I leave these out)

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease one 9 or 10 inch tube pan.
Mix white sugar and cinnamon in a plastic bag. Cut biscuits into quarters. Shake 6 to 8 biscuit pieces in the sugar cinnamon mix. Arrange pieces in the bottom of the prepared pan. Continue until all biscuits are coated and placed in pan. If using nuts and raisins, arrange them in and among the biscuit pieces as you go along.
In a small saucepan, melt the margarine with the brown sugar over medium heat. Boil for 1 minute. Pour over the biscuits.
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 35 minutes. Let bread cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a plate. Do not cut! The bread just pulls apart.

Enjoy!

A step back in time.....

I grew up in a home that is only about 3 blocks from where I live. I`ve road bikes past it frequently with my children and for the second time since my parents have sold the house it has been in foreclosure. My friend is in real estate and was able to get me into the home I haven`t stepped foot in for 18 years.

The anticipation of her opening up that door I can`t put into words of course she delayed it reminscing about the german shepard doberman mix we had back then...LOL.
When I stepped inside it was such a strange feeling one of familarity and another of total non recognition. The house was beyond being given any care the past few years as shown by the bare boards. The people when they left decided to take with them cabinets, sinks, doors, door jams, carpets and even molding in spots.

It was such a dejavu to be standing back in my old bedroom. Many memories rushing by. I was so grateful to be able to step back in time. So many times I thought how wonderful it would be to be able to get just a glimpse of those walls again. Even if sadness filled my heart momentarily it was nice to feel like I was back home again.

Never forget who you are and where you come from.

Here are some pictures of what I saw upon entering:

Creamy Chicken Bake...

For a quick an easy when your in a rush try this! I love to make this dish with some white rice.

8 skinless, boneless chicken breasts
8 slices Swiss cheese
1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of chicken soup

1 cup herb-seasoned stuffing mix
1/4 cup butter

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Arrange the chicken in a lightly greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Top with Swiss cheese slices. Combine the soup and wine and stir well. Pour over the chicken. Drizzle butter or margarine over all and top with stuffing mix crumbs. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 to 50 minutes.
